General Nice's Group is a company registered and based in Hong Kong with established subsidiaries in Tianjin, Taiyuan, Harbin and Shenzhen in China The group is export oriented, and major in Coke, Carbon products, Pig Iron, Steel products, Ferro Alloys, Cement and Cement Clinker.
The Company currently export about 300,000MT per annum of Pig Iron, at the same time export of steel products, Carbon products and Ferro Alloys such as Ferro Silicon, Silicon Manganese are in excess of 100,000MT per annum. At the same time this company import about 500,000MT per annum of Iron Ore from Australia and India.

The main responsibility of this company is the export of coke and carbon products. As we all know that coke is rather difficult product to handle, and to handle it well, need a lot of dedication, experience and facilities, such as storage space and processing equipment.
The expertise that this company possess is the experience that the management team had gathered through their working in the coke business for more than 10 years and the constant exposure in the industry for their broad distribution networks that this company had set up during the past years.
As mentioned earlier that coke is a rather difficult products to handle, this is largely due to lack of knowledge of the quality control by the people in the production and then the mixing of impurities and breakage during transportation. In view of all that, this company is working with one of the other subsidiaries of General Nice Development Limited (Shanxi) in Taiyuan and Xiao Yi County of Shanxi, and their main responsibility is to ensure that all their supplies from Shanxi are of qualified material from the manufacturers, and then transportation to Tanggu from Shanxi via various means, such as by railway or by trucks, is being monitored closely, so that breakage and mixing with impurities are being brought to the minimum.
Tianjin General Nice Coke & Chemicals Co., Ltd. is maintaining and running a total storage space of 100,000 square meters in Tanggu area of Tianjin where these areas are within close proximity of the Port of Xingang. Apart from the above mentioned storage space, the company has recently bought a piece of land of 200,000 square meters, which will be build as our consolidated warehouse, with all sort of processing facilities (such as crushers, screens and laboratory) to be built into it.
Tianjin General Nice Coke & Chemicals Co., Ltd. - Coke Operation
The company started a base in Tianjin specially for the operation in coke export, since 1994, the company has increased their volume in many folds, and the success largely on account of their dedication in the processing in the warehouses in the port area.
To commence their operation, the company has a base in Xiao Yi, Shanxi where our company has invested joint venture factories, our staff stationed in that area are to look into the quality control of every individual factories, to ensure that all their productions will meet with our requirement, inspect their inspection reports on daily basis, and when delivery is to be made, our staff will be there to supervise loading and again, for the last time, visual inspection for the quality of the material to be despatched to us in Xingang will be performed.
Once the material loaded on to the trucks jto be set off to Tianjin, our Tianjin office will reveive detail of quality of the material despatched, and upon arrival in our warehouse, samples will be drawn, and analyse the samples drawn in our own laboratory, this is to ensure and to indentify the quality of the newly arrived material, and these materials will be programme for and to be allocated to individual contract, and at the same time to programme this material to be screened to the correct size and to eliminate all the contamination that may have been generated in the process of transportation, and wait for the arrival of the performing vessel. Before arrival of the performing vessel, a last samples will be drawn to ensure once again the quality is met with the contract requirement.
In the case of material to transported by rail, similar exercise will be performed, and more attention will be given to the quality upon arrival into our warehouses, due to the fact that contamination will be caused while loading onto and discharge from the train, and again onto and discharge from the trucks that is to deliver the material into our warehouse, but in most cases, alter first screening, the materials are to be same as those that had been arrived by trucks. Again all other procedures are to be similar.
Final touch is to be at the time of vessel loading, our team of staff are specially trained for supervising vessel loading, and our cargo agent for arranging port facilities and berthing is also our affiliate company, and we consider this service is in-house, further more, the truck fleet that is to transport the material from our warehouses to the port is owned and managed by our subsidiary, In view of all the above facilities, we are the only corporation that has the comprehensive service from the production to the vessel loading.
Now once the materials despatched from our Taiyuan office and arrived our Tanggu warehouse, sampling will be drawn and testing will be made to ensure that all new arrivals are qualified for the purpose. The storage space is equipped with various screening plants to ensure that the sizing is within the contractual requirement.
Tianjin General Nice Coke & Chemicals Co., Ltd. supplied in excess of 1.7MT of various grades of coke for export in the year of 1999, the coke exported were destined to America, Mexico, Brazil, Chili, Peru, France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, India, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea and Taiwan. With the expertise and the facilities we have, we become the largest coke cupplier and exporter in China today.
General Nice Transportation Company
The main objective and responsibiliry of this company is to handle our in house transportation from warehouses to the quay. The company is now equipped with more than 200 dump trucks and many other affiliate equipment. The total investment is in excess of 15 million Yuan (RMB). Apart from giving first priority to our own use, also render services to the public in the region. |
